The American artist builds a visual language on several steps: beginning with Manet’s “Jesus mocked by Soldiers” on the background, he journeys through an art history time scale. Thus he inserts ancient statues and other references as the Bronze Priamo, reaching up to the contemporary Dancing Sculpture by Boris Kramer topped by some elementary drawings of a sailboat.
In the series Antiquity, Jeff Koons presents some vert transcendent aspects, such as the acceptance of our existence, nature’s procreation and humanity’s sustainability of life.

Œuvre spéciale sur papier de l’artiste contemporain Jeff Koons. Dans cette série « Antiquity », il aborde directement des thèmes tels que l’acceptation, les relations interpersonnelles et les modèles essentiels de la vie.
L’artiste américain construit un langage visuel à plusieurs couches : en partant du tableau de Manet « Jésus raillé par les soldats » en arrière-plan, il traverse une échelle artistique temporelle, en insérant des statues classiques et d’autres renvois à l’art classique. Nous voyons en effet la statue de bronze de Priam, pour arriver jusqu’à l’art contemporain, superposant à la sculpture dansante de Boris Kramer des dessins élémentaires qui représentent un bateau à voile.
Dans la série Antiquity, Jeff Koonsmontre des aspects comme l’acceptation de la façon dont l’être humain vit, comment la nature se régénère et comment faire face à la vie.
