Pierpaolo Perretta, aka Mr. Savethewall, is an Italian artist from Como. He began his career as a manager, but as time goes by, he begins to feel the need to change, to finally put his great creativity and talent to good use.

Pierpaolo immediately proves to be a street artist different from the usual. He declares himself against the soiling of walls preferring the use of an easily removable tape. Hence his stage name, which literally refers to the protection of the wall and the urban decorum.

Therefore we can therefore speak about a new era, the Post-Street Art. To this era belong all the artists who on the one hand showed on the walls their longing for freedom and social criticism and on the other accepted the rules of museification and commercialization in the galleries. First among these Mr. Brainwash, followed by many other exponents of the phenomenon, such as Obey, Invader and even Banksy himself.

In Mr. Savethewall’s artworks you can perceive an ironic and critical interpretation of modern society. His goal is also to push the viewer to a personal reflection on the world around him. This ideology is fully reflected in the artist’s iconic subject, the frog-man of the Kiss Me series, a sarcastic interpretation of all those men who show off their Rolex and walk around well-dressed but underneath are only frogs.

In 2019, the exhibition of Mr. Savethewall International Language is held. With this project the artist wants to reflect on the symbolic importance of the English language. In post-street art style, the works in the exhibition are full of contamination and therefore difficult to label. They enclose different souls, times and stories and are at the same time conceptual, educational and pop. Each figure represented is linked to the artist, his life, his experiences and his memories.

In Mr. Savethewall’s artworks you can clearly perceive strong, direct and targeted messages. These themes are represented in his works by his iconic subjects such as the Frog. The artist’s Frog is a reinterpretation of the famous tale of the Princess and the Frog: Prince Charming does not exist, but only well-dressed frogs do.
